Sunday Blues ???

31st January,2010.

The door bell rings and a sound follows it "KACCHARAAAA". I wake up and look up at the clock, its 8.30. I wish i could sleep more but the agony of listening to the door bell followed by the lady shouting for the dustbin again and again just made me jump out of my bed and rush to the door before she presses the bell again with her dirty fingers.

I opened the door and saw the news paper lying with all the supplement in different places, thats when the lady sweeper smiled at me and asked if all of us were sleeping. I said yes to that and rushed to give her the Dustbin. I lifted the dustbin to understand that their was nothing inside. As I had already emptied the same the previous evening.

No "Kaccharaa" to start with on a Sunday Morning.

By the time i brushed and landed in the kitchen to see what can be made for breakfast, my daughter hugs me from behind and says "Good Morning Accha" and then she says that she is hungry. I said to her that I will make some Idli's for you by the time you freshen up. She rushes to the bathroom and I towards the refrigerator.

Idli's were steaming hot, thats when i ask Tanvi to wake her Mom. That takes another 15 minutes bye that time i make some black tea with lemon grass. The aroma was great and also made me hungry.

We had just finished the Idli's and shifted to the living room to watch the TV. Thats when the door bell rang again. That's our first floor neighbor Mr.Alam. Thats when i remembered that their was a trivial issue he had with his neighbor Mr.Reddy that had to be taken care off. I said to him that i will be their in a jiffy and scooted in to change into my jeans and t-shirt. By the time I reached all the others had already reached to the first floor to confront Mr.Alam's neighbor.

The discussion started with a small picture 4"x4" depicting that of the devil being kept on the front grill of the door of Mr.Reddy's facing Mr.Alam's house. Mr. Alam wanted that to be removed as he said that that is to upset him that Mr.Reddy has kept it their. While Mr.Reddy said that it was generally kept to ward of evil looks and all other perils and bad luck. Even I had eplained it to Mr.Alam that not to take it personally as it is very much practiced in many parts of India to ward of evil and bad luck.

But this discussions didn't take us anywhere and both of them had severe arguments and started threatening each other with dire consequences if they dare to o anything to each other. Though we have all asked Mr.Reddy to remove the picture and place it somewhere inside. he has said that he will not remove it and he is ready to face any kind of action from anybody.

Thats when the discussion lead to the flower and plants being kept in the common place by Mr.Reddy came up. Mr.Alam asked him to remove it from the common place as he claims it is obstructing his free movement and gave an ultimatum to Mr.Reddy to remove it within three days otherwise he will throw the same elsewhere.

All this lead to nothing. By the time i returned home it was 1.00 pm. The Idli's had already digested in between and i could sense a burning desire to have something to eat. My wife Sumi had just started to make some Rice Pulav with green peas, carrots, soya chunks and boiled eggs. I told her that I will take over the same as she was busy with the washing machine.

I ended up making one of the finest fried rice that i have ever made. My daughter was the first to compliment and i looked at my wife's face for her reaction. She was busy eating and didn't think it important enough to compliment me for what i have just made. She has been like that for long now. I have to always fish for a compliment.

We all had a good meal and thats when my wife realized that we didn't have any sweats for the dessert. Tanvi rushed to the shop nearby in her cycle and then we had some Cadbury's chocolate. It was 2.30 pm when i hit the bed with the sunday supplement with an intension to take a nap.

The door bell rang again at 4.00. This time it was Tanvi's friend calling her for playing outside.
I wake up and gorge at the Soan Papdi sweets kept at the dinning table. Then enter the living area where Sumi was busy watching a mallu movie. I didn't find it interesting.

Ended up watching a Tamil movie instead after a bath as Sumi rushed to finish her other chores and be ready for Monday.

Tanvi comes in with a twisted ankle which i crape bandage so that she can be fit for her dance class the next day.

We had dinner at 9.00 pm and Sumi and Tanvi is in bed by 10.00. I watch the news till 10.30 pm and too retire to the bed calling it a day.
It was a very bad Sunday.
